Our 2018/19 Season may have wrapped up back in June, but we brought the art of music during the warm months! Every summer, we entertain thousands of audiences large and small, from downtown Rochester to the village of Inlet, NY.
Our performance at I-Square was packed on July 5, as Music Director Ward Stare conducted the orchestra in an evening of patriotic-themed tunes. After a fun evening at Bristol Mountain on July 6, we traveled to the shores of Lake Ontario to perform at Ontario Beach Park. On July 12, we carried our patriotic tunes out to SUNY Geneseo – with fireworks on display! The following day, we performed a series of classical and contemporary pieces following the Rochester Red Wings game and returned to Bristol Mountain on July 14 for an evening of classical’s most celebrated compositions.
The RPO’s Temple Beth Kodesh performance on July 17 was well-received, followed up on July 19 with an evening of Sir Elton’s hits in Music of Elton John Starring Michael Cavanuagh. We then took audiences far, far away in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi on July 20. Cosplayers of the 501st Legion entertained guests before, during, and after the much-beloved concert. However, we couldn’t complete our summer without a getaway to Inlet, NY on July 26!
We also performed four neighborhood ensemble concerts throughout the month of July and were thrilled to play at CMAC’s Grease in Concert on July 25. We return to Canandaigua on August 6 for an evening with music legend, Sarah McLachlan!
In July, we welcomed our new Chairperson of the Board, Ross P. Lanzafame, Esq. Mr. Lanzafame is a partner in the Rochester-based law firm of Harter Secrest & Emery, LLP. Ross counsels for-profit and non-profit clients with regard to business, corporate and government regulatory matters, and represents clients before a variety of governmental agencies, bodies, boards and commissions.
