Ursula the Sea Witch

We’re sure Hans Christian Anderson never imagined his sea witch gaining notoriety. Originally written as a minor character in The Little Mermaid, Ursula the Sea Witch remains one of Disney’s most iconic villains. And let’s not forget her performance of “Poor Unfortunate Souls.” With its blend of cabaret and Broadway theatre, Ursula’s solo remains one of the most recognized pieces in Disney’s music repertoire – matched only by Lion King’s “Be Prepared,” performed by Scar .

Thirty years later, audiences remain enchanted by Ursula. Her raspy voice, larger-than-life attitude, and shrewd business attitude make her stand out from the rest. And while we’re supposed to hate Ursula, there’s so much more to love about her. Click here to watch a clip on what makes the sea witch relatable.
