Petros Karapetyan

Petros Karapetyan

Originally from Yerevan, Armenia, Petros Karapetyan started on the violin with he was just six years old and moved to Mexico at age 11. “Growing up, I witnessed two very different cultures; Armenian and Mexican! When I was 11 years old, my family moved to Mexico. It was difficult at first but it ended up being really useful and interesting to see different perspectives on things.”⁣

After moving to Rochester in 2013 to attend Eastman School of Music, he joined the RPO family in 2016 and returned three years later after receiving his masters at Rice University. We’re so glad you came back, Petros! ⁣

Q&A:⁣
𝐅𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐫: It’s hard to have a favorite composer since they all have so many special pieces but Mozart has always been a constant throughout the years. ⁣

𝐅𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭: I think Rochester is a wonderful place! I love biking alongside the Erie Canal and getting ice cream (it doesn’t really matter to me if it’s cold or warm outside, ice cream is always welcome)⁣

𝐅𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐭-𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: I like to read and learn about new things. Cooking is also fun! ⁣

𝐅𝐮𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭: I speak Armenian, Russian, Spanish and English, although I have to practice my Russian since it’s the most fragile out of the four.⁣

Petros was one of four featured musicians during last weekend’s Living Room Series. Didn’t have a chance to watch it? Click below and enjoy!
